8. Buy Clearance Items at the Supermarket
If you have a butcher or local baker, ask them about being able to buy food near expiry, if they don’t already have a program. You can completely repurchase them for a bit lower.
Typically, you can see these items with a small amount of small yellow clearance stickers as they are about to expire, or they may be shipped to another part of the store. At Walmart, you may notice that they have a whole shopping cart full of old barbecue. Not only is this food a lot cheaper, but it also means you’ll save it from being thrown into landfills and reduce waste home.
