31. Business is closed & Shop facade is empty
Since the Great Depression of 2008, stores have closed across America. It’s now commonplace for a business to close not long after it started. Now that it’s 2019, the economy has had 11 years to recover. New stores and restaurants are opening up in towns that are doing well in economic terms.
If you drive through a town and see businesses that are still closed, it means that the community is still struggling. An empty frontage can lead to higher levels of crime and poverty. This also means that you may have to drive long distances to buy groceries.
