18. Asbestos is number 18 on the list.

If you built your home before the 1970s, you should be aware of the presence of asbestos. This was a material that was praised as one of the best materials to use while constructing a home. The only problem was that when asbestos is broken off, microscopic fibers escape into the air. These fibers can stay in your lungs indefinitely if you breathe them in, and there is no way to get rid of them. Lung cancer and other health problems have been attributed to asbestos exposure.

As soon as people realized how dangerous asbestos is, it was outlawed in the construction industry. The only issue, of course, is that asbestos roofs and siding are still found on many older houses. You will need to employ a specialist team to remove it if you are buying an older home. Asbestos removal costs $20 to $65 per square foot, according to Home Guide. A complete work would cost between $1,212 and $2,821.
