9. Take note of the reasons why your mortgage application was rejected
There are a few things worse than finding your dream home, getting pre-approved for a mortgage, and then being denied during the underwriting process when you’re trying to close the door. Doing your homework right now can save you a lot of time and heartache.
There may be something missing on your credit report, so make sure you receive the information from all credit reporting departments. Even if you have pre-approval, a change in marital status, wages, or terms may result in your rejected mortgage application. Errors in your credit report, even those that benefit you, can delay the process or cause your application to be rejected.
