The Failed Hit on Weiss and Its Consequences

In September 1926, as Capone heard a commotion outside his headquarters at the Hawthorne Inn, he inadvertently played into the hands of his adversaries. Unaware that this was precisely the reaction his rivals sought, he approached a window to investigate. A car filled with North Side gang members opened fire, bullets tearing through every wall of the building. The barrage of gunfire seemed relentless, yet miraculously, it managed to evade Alphonse Gabriel Capone, their primary target.

Though ruthless, Capone harbored a desire to survive and called for a truce. However, Weiss rejected his proposal, vowing to confront Capone until the end. Unfortunately for Weiss, he met his demise because, as everyone knew, Capone did not take kindly to the refusal of his business dealings.
