26.Taking Your Partner For Granted
Nobody enjoys being overlooked. And, for some reason, the longer you have been in a relationship with someone, the less they seem to care about you. This is a severe problem in a relationship, even if it isn’t intended, that could result in a higher divorce rate. In some cases, people might do this intentionally. They could be putting the focus on something else when their partner is talking, thus failing to pay attention to what they are saying.
On the other hand, deliberately ignoring someone is a lot worse. “Silent treatment” is considered abuse. It is used to make the other person feel bad about themselves, and it’s used to ostracize the other person. This can be harmful to a relationship, mainly if it’s used as a weapon every time you and your partner disagree. When one person brazenly disregards the other’s request, it can lead to a slew of problems, including divorce.
