19. Reuse Your Leftovers

In order not to cause food waste, some people eat leftovers the next day. Therefore, they need to make their food survive as long as possible. Some people don’t like leftovers, because they never taste as good as freshly cooked. Fortunately, there are some useful ways to use your leftovers. One of them is to combine and make them into brand new meals. By doing this, you can avoid having to eat the same food two days in a row.

For example, you can make a traditional Sunday meal with steak and mashed potatoes. Usually, you will find a lot of mashed potatoes left when all the meat is gone. Therefore, on Tuesday, you can use the leftover mashed potatoes and make a delicious shepherd pie. You can also use the cooking tips with ground beef for tacos, by turning them to empanadas. The possibilities are endless. If you only have cheap plastic food storage containers, then perhaps it’s time to invest in a set of glass containers with lids. These are safe to use in microwave ovens and dishwashers. Moreover, they will last for years, instead of weeks like the plastic ones. On the other hand, it is also your opportunity to get creative with designing meals from leftovers. When you get in the habit of doing this, it’s enjoyable.
