She Looked Really Rough

Anne’s excruciating physical pain took precedence over concerns about her appearance. She was often seen dressed in unkempt attire, covered in bandages, and with a ruddy, spotted face. Sarah Churchill described her as “exceedingly gross and corpulent.” 

The tragedy deepened with Anne’s 12th stillbirth in July 1700, followed by the loss of her surviving son at the age of 11.
