Queen Sofia & Queen Letizia of Spain

In December 2018, Queen Letizia of Spain, the current queen, gracefully wore a red dress that originally made its debut in 1980 when it was worn by her mother-in-law, Queen Sofia of Spain.

Queen Sofia and her husband, King Juan Carlos, ruled Spain for 40 years until the king abdicated due to his involvement in a royal scandal related to an elephant hunting trip. Following his exile in the United Arab Emirates, power was transferred to his son, Felipe, and daughter-in-law, Letizia.
