16.Patchy Areas of Seeding
It’s almost unavoidable that a patch of your lawn will look patchy and uneven in the summer due to neighborhood dog visits, winter kill, sun scorch, or some other factor. Early summer is ideal for patching these areas because the rain and warmer temperatures reduce seed rot and promote faster germination and growth.
When purchasing seed, make an effort to match the pre-existing grass in the area closely. Keep the shade level in mind because some cultivars are better suited to sun or shade even within one type of grass. Rake the patchy area gently before broadcasting the seed. Keep the site moist until the seedlings appear.
