Aside from ripe and fallen fruits and vegetables, dead plants are preferred hosts and snack sources for many insects. They can quickly spread any disease, especially if it is the cause of their death. Fungus and disease thrive in wet, dead plants.

If you notice a rapidly declining plant, it is best to remove it before it infects neighboring plants. Never leave dead plants in the soil with other plants. Removing dead plants as soon as possible helps your remaining plants remain solid and healthy.
