The Family Date

Kelly thought she was going on a normal first date — a chance to meet someone new, chat, maybe share a few laughs. What she didn’t expect was to walk into a full family affair. Her date had brought his parents along without warning. That’s right — mom and dad were part of the first impression package. No heads-up, no explanation, just a surprise dinner with the in-laws.

First dates are already nerve-wracking enough. Throwing in the parents takes it from awkward to unbearable. While he might have thought it was “sweet” or “thoughtful,” it came across as immature and boundary-crossing. Kelly understandably felt overwhelmed and probably more like a contestant on a game show than a potential partner. While meeting the family is great later on, it’s definitely not something to spring on someone during a first date. One thing’s for sure — there definitely wasn’t a second one.
