With technology constantly in our hands, it’s no surprise that some people are becoming more paranoid about being watched. While covering your laptop camera might seem cautious, this guy took it to the next level by obsessively covering every camera on his phone, claiming the government was spying on him. It might have been an interesting conspiracy theory to bring up, but on a first date? Probably not the ideal icebreaker.
His date tried to be polite and listen, but there’s a fine line between quirky and uncomfortable. Conversations about targeted ads and digital surveillance can be fun — until someone starts implying their phone is an active spy tool mid-dinner. A little mystery can be charming, but this was just unsettling. Next time, he might want to ease into the “they’re watching us” topic after a few more dates. Or at the very least, save it for someone with a tinfoil hat too.
