Grace Lee Whitney – Now
Despite her departure from Star Trek, Grace Lee Whitney’s career took diverse and notable turns. She starred in the classic comedy film Some Like It Hot alongside legendary figures like Marilyn Monroe and Jack Lemmon. Her talents also graced the Broadway stage, where she played the role of Miss Holland in the musical Top Banana. In 1952, a cartoon mermaid character was created, inspired by Grace herself, and this character became an iconic symbol for the Chicken Of The Sea tuna branding.
Unfortunately, Grace Lee Whitney’s life was marked by battles with alcoholism. Despite her efforts to overcome addiction through various programs, she passed away at the age of 85 in 2015. Her journey was one of both triumphs and challenges, leaving a legacy beyond her time in Star Trek and into entertainment and popular culture.
