“My husband’s family is a hoarding family. It had a long-term effect on him. And now, he finds it difficult to determine what should and should not be discarded. His family owns three homes, four barns, several silos, a paddock, and two fields that are completely devoid of anything useful.CPS would have taken children out and put them in hospital if the teachers had been paying attention at all.” This story was written by Reddit user Higginsnburke, and they are not incorrect when they claim they should have contacted that child protection in this situation.

It’s difficult to tell for sure, but based on the explanation, it seems that it was past time for someone to stand up for the kids. Who knows how dangerous things kids might have gotten into if there was so much garbage in their yard. When we see levels of hoarding this bad (multiple houses occupied, other buildings stocked, etc. ), it’s time to seek professional assistance. It’s a sad case because, sadly, not everyone can get this kind of help, and it can be costly. Even just a cleanup crew without any psychological assistance would be prohibitively expensive.
