15. Memorial and Meditation Garden for the Presley Family
The Presley Family Memorial is located in Graceland’s backyard. Elvis Presley’s family was very close to him, and they lived with him throughout his life. His parents and grandparents greatly influenced him, and there are monuments to them all across Graceland. The meditation garden has the most famous memorial to his family.
Elvis created the meditation garden as a place for him to unwind and meditate on his life’s challenges. The park is centered on a fountain, which is surrounded by Elvis’ burial. Gladys, Vernon, and Minnie Mae, his paternal grandmother, are all buried there. Jesse, Elvis’ twin brother, was stillborn and has a memorial as well. Elvis and his mother were initially buried in another cemetery, but after grave thieves attempted to steal their remains, they were transported to Graceland. Every day from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m., Graceland guests have free access to the meditation garden.
