5 pm – We’re Closed, Sorry

“Lagom”- the balance of work and life is the main basis of Swedish culture ingrained into its citizens. Too much work and not enough play or family time can be harmful. The Swedish government officially made the average work week 40 hours.

A typical work day begins at 8.30 am or 9.00 am with an hour’s lunch from 11.30 am until 1.30 pm. Work finishes at 5 pm; everyone is out of the office when we say finish. There is no need to stay longer to prove your diligence in Sweden; it is considered unnecessary and an example of poor planning and time management. Hi 5- we’re out, guys!
