Everyman’s Territory

Given that 86% of Swedes reside in cities, the need to connect with nature is fulfilled by the allemansrätten law, which translates to the “everyman’s right.” This legislation permits individuals to set up tents, hike mountains, swim in lakes, or traverse private land without charge.

However, there are exceptions – private residences, gardens, and farmland cannot be transformed into camping sites or exploited for trespassing. Sweden stands as one of the few countries globally where individuals can freely explore, an invaluable privilege that citizens hold in high regard, especially during contemplative summers spent outdoors.
