Forests Galore

An impressive 57% of Sweden’s land is covered in forests, which aligns well with the country’s right-to-roam law. Established in 1903, the Swedish Forestry Act mandates that any harvested forest be regenerated, preserving the country’s vast 23 million hectares of woodland.

Much of Swedish life revolves around outdoor activities, and safeguarding the land from neglect is a priority. The existence of a law that mandates reforestation ensures the continuous growth and vitality of Swedish forests, making the experience of foraging during long summer vacations all the more enriching.
