Embracing the Winter Charm

Due to its geographical location, Sweden offers the enchanting spectacle of the Northern Lights, albeit amidst dark and chilly conditions. In regions situated above the Arctic Circle, the winter months can see as little as three hours of daylight, potentially leading to Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) and its associated depression.

To counter this, the Swedish government has taken innovative steps, installing UV lights at bus stops and public spaces for light therapy. This preventive measure helps combat the effects of the gloomy winters and SAD. Despite the somber winters, Sweden more than compensates with its remarkably long 24 hours of summer daylight, providing ample opportunity to bask in the joy of extended summer vacations. It’s a testament to the Swedish concept of “lagom” – achieving balance.
