7. What Lies Beneath

Claire and Norman Spenser were empty nesters as their daughters matured and began to leave. At first, everything was great for Spencers, until Claire started to believe that a beautiful house on the water could be haunted. Throughout the rest of What Lies Beneath, the house becomes the central character in the story as we try to find out if Claire is really haunted or if she’s going crazy.

The film makes us believe that the house is located in Waterbury, Vermont. Some scenes from the movie, like the Adamant Cafe, were filmed in Charlotte, Vermont. Filmmakers have done a great job capturing what this odd, odd lifestyle will be like. In real life, the house we saw in the movie was actually built for the film at DAR State Park in Addison, Vermont. They made a brand new stall for people to sit and watch when they visit the place.
