Avian Anti-Submarine Tactics: The Seagull Strategy
During World War II, as the British military grappled with the menace of enemy submarines, they ventured into unconventional tactics—one of which involved training seagulls to target enemy periscopes with their droppings. The rationale behind this unusual strategy was to obstruct the vision of submarine crews and potentially reveal their positions.

However, this inventive plan encountered an unforeseen comedic twist. Seagulls, while adept coastal birds, could not venture far enough out to sea to make this approach effective against submarines operating in deeper waters. Thus, despite its ingenuity, the plan proved more humorous than practical and was eventually abandoned in favor of conventional anti-submarine measures.
