Mickey Rooney
Mickey Rooney’s matrimonial ventures were almost as prolific as his legendary career in entertainment, with his number of marriages rivaling the many roles he played on screen. Rooney’s first walk down the aisle was with the stunning actress Ava Gardner in 1942, marking the beginning of a series of marital connections. His subsequent spouses included singer Betty Jane Phillips, actresses Martha Vickers and Elaine Mahnken, and beauty queen Ann Thomason, whose marriage ended tragically.
Following Thomason’s demise, Rooney’s search for companionship led him to marry Marge Lane, a friend of his previous wife, Barbara, though this union dissolved after just 100 days. Carolyn Hockett then became wife number seven, preceding his final marriage to Jan Chamberlin in 1978. Rooney and Chamberlin remained together, weathering the storms of life, until he died in 2014, closing the curtain on a series of marriages as colorful and varied as the characters he portrayed.
