Fred White: 67 Years Old
Fred White was the drummer for the classic ’70s band Earth, Wind, & Fire.His death was announced on Instagram by his older brother and former bandmate, Verdine White, that Fred had passed away in January 2023. His brother wrote, “Our family is saddened today with the loss of an amazing and talented family member, our beloved brother Frederick Eugene ‘Freddie’ White.”
Fred White, his half-brother Maurice, and his brother Verdine were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2000. Earth, Wind, & Fire has won seven Grammys and four American Music Awards and has sold over 90 million albums worldwide. Rolling Stone declared Earth, Wind & Fire as the band that “changed the sound of black pop”.
