37. Alocasia
The Alocasia family is a truly unique type of houseplants. Plants grow from tubers and sometimes become dormant in the winter, unlike most houseplants. They have large, textured leaves that often have strange colors or even metal finishes, as in the case of Alocasia Cuprea, which looks as beautiful as burned copper. Their wealth of large, thick leaves makes them great for creating oxygen in your home environment. They thrive in humid conditions and never turn off the dew daily. They are prone to flooding, so be careful when watering so that the tubers and roots don’t rot.
