11. Food Photography

Ever have a habit of taking photos of your food, why not turn it up a notch? You need a surface to photograph your food and some extra props. Add in the photos some acrylic stones, some glass jars or cute containers to get an aesthetically pleasing result. You could try with a monochrome plate, such as black or white, which should help highlight the food instead of its texture. Avoid plastic, as it may look unattractive.

You can also combine contrasting colors or similar monochrome ones. Double-check your light source and background too before starting as you may want to familiarize yourself with the theme for this type of photography. It’s basically an artistic and scientific theory that defines how colors will coordinate. Getting used to color combinations (complementary, analog, or monochrome) would also help when choosing a color scheme to use in food photography.
