10. He Loved the Twin Cities
Minneapolis is where Prince was born and raised, and occasionally references the area in his songs. A character in Purple Rain even tried to purify himself in the waters of Lake Minnetonka, a popular tourist attraction in the area. With his money and reputation, Prince can really live anywhere in the world, so he chose Chanhassen’s deserted suburb in the relatively bland urban area of Minneapolis and St. Paul.
