The Little House books were a success, but they took off in 1953 in new editions with artwork. Garth Williams, a big name in children’s books, did these drawings, having done both Stuart Little and Charlotte’s Web.

Laura was content with the life that her success brought her, but as content as she was, she never stopped writing. She expressed, “I have considered dedicating the remaining years of my life to living rather than writing about it, but a story continues to stir in my mind, and if it persists in bothering me, I might need to put it down in writing.”
