Bear Versus Lion

Hemingway, being Hemingway and more than a little crazy, made a bet with friends that a grizzly bear could take on an African lion. To prove it, he concocted a crazy scheme. He hired one of the Crandall locals near where he used to write in his cabin to dig a deep pit. They threw in some bait, then covered up the pit and waited. Soon enough, a grizzly bear appeared and fell into the pit.

They tied a rope around the bear’s neck and easily led it to a waiting cage. This poor grizzly bear was transported to Las Vegas, where an African lion awaited. The grizzly was led into the ring with the lion and, within seconds, killed that lion. So Hemingway won his insane bet. Was it worth ten dollars?
