Bear With Me!
In a 1950 profile of Hemingway in The New Yorker, Hemingway recounted a tale to writer Lillian Ross, in which he claimed to have cohabited, slept alongside, indulged in alcohol with, and formed a close friendship with a bear. When we say slept with, we don’t mean in the Biblical sense. We hope. But we wouldn’t put anything past Hemingway!
This story can’t be verified, so it could have been another of Hemingway’s tall tales or perhaps just something exclusively told to reporter Lillian Ross for the article.
