Many believed a cover-up was more plausible, especially as the accounts given by those who found her were inconsistent. The official version stated that Marilyn’s housekeeper discovered her with the light on and the door locked at 3:30 a.m. The housekeeper contacted a psychiatrist, who called the police immediately. However, in later interviews, the housekeeper found the body around midnight.
