The Veiled Cover-Up
Skeptics of the suicide theory argued that if Marilyn had overdosed on pills, traces should have been found in her stomach during the autopsy, which they were not.
Many believed a cover-up was more plausible, especially as the accounts given by those who found her were inconsistent. The official version stated that Marilyn’s housekeeper discovered her with the light on and the door locked at 3:30 a.m. The housekeeper contacted a psychiatrist, who called the police immediately. However, in later interviews, the housekeeper found the body around midnight.
