Don’t Assume
Understanding children can be quite challenging at times, and I’m not referring to comprehending their needs and behavior, but literally understanding their speech. So, when you work with kids, it’s natural that you might struggle to grasp what they’re saying sometimes, right?
When this woman thought one of the kids said his name was “Weed,” she found it unusual but assumed stranger things had happened. She simply presumed that his parents might not have thought clearly when they chose his name. Consequently, she continued to refer to him as “Weed” for three days until she realized her mistake.
