A Misunderstanding with Mr. Gross

According to the vast realm of online information, Gross is a surname of Prussian, German, and Yiddish origin, meaning big, tall, or great. It’s not an entirely uncommon name, even in the United States. Unfortunately, in America, it just means… gross. I can see why Nancy was utterly baffled. Dating Mr. Gross would require quite an adjustment.

He must be accustomed to people’s confusion, though. If my last name were Gross, I’d provide a backstory the moment anyone inquired about my name or gave it a perplexed look on paperwork. Although, not everyone may care about the origins of their last name.
