Mongolian Army
In this picture, you can see members of the Mongolian Army wearing uniforms reminiscent of the Mongol Empire’s era. Perhaps the most peculiar aspect of these uniforms is the pole adorned with hanging hair.
These poles are known as “tug banners,” featuring freshly brushed yak hair. They are typically carried in white during peace; during wartime, they switch to black. You’ll often witness parades like this one a few days before Naadam, the Mongolian independence celebration.
