Marie Antoinette, originally an archduchess of Austria, embarked on a significant journey at the tender age of 14 when she entered into marriage with the dauphin of France. Despite her initial reputation as a woman of wealth, beauty, and charm, her marriage and subsequent reign as queen would take a sour turn. Accusations of scandal and blame for economic turmoil would cast a shadow over her rule.
With a penchant for luxury and possessing striking physical beauty, it’s no surprise that the people of France had much to say about her, and regrettably, much of it was far from flattering. In 1793, the last queen of France before the tumultuous French Revolution met a gruesome end at the guillotine, marking the conclusion of her turbulent journey.
