2004 a colossal natural disaster unfolded when a massive underwater earthquake measuring 9.1 magnitude occurred on the sea floor. This seismic event triggered what is now known as the Indian Ocean Tsunami, resulting in devastating waves that extended from Asia to Somalia.
Among the countries severely impacted by the catastrophe, Thailand suffered significant devastation. The village depicted in the photograph below witnessed the tragic loss of 170,000 lives as a direct consequence of the tsunami.
