#65: The Older Sibling Advantage

Sibling dynamics are rarely neutral. There’s competition, jokes, old grudges, old alliances — and a lifelong back-and-forth about who’s “better” at what. Older siblings are often seen as more responsible, while younger ones get branded as free spirits or rebels.

Some research suggests that older siblings may perform slightly better on certain cognitive tests. If you’re the oldest, this might feel like validation. If you’re the youngest… maybe don’t bring this up at dinner. No good can come from someone saying, “Science says I’m smarter.”
