Meryl Streep in “The French Lieutenant’s Woman”

Undoubtedly one of the greatest—if not THE greatest—actresses in modern times, Meryl Streep won a Golden Globe and a BAFTA, as well as an Oscar nomination, for her role in 1982’s The French Lieutenant’s Woman.

However, she later revealed in an interview on The Graham Norton Show that she wasn’t a fan of the celebrated movie. “I didn’t feel I was living it,” she said. “You always want to do something better after the fact … the structure of it was sort of artificial.
