Gwyneth Paltrow in “Shallow Hal”

We’re sure Gwyneth Paltrow and her costar Jack Black had the best of intentions while filming their 2001 comedy Shallow Hal. Still, looking back now, Paltrow admits that she deeply regrets starring in the movie—which is essentially built on the premise of shaming overweight women and suggesting they are not worthy of love.

Speaking in a Netflix interview with her friend Kevin Keating, she called the movie “a disaster” for its horrible attitudes towards women’s bodies. “It was so sad,” she admitted. “It was so disturbing … I felt humiliated.”
