28.Alternating Half-Price Days are a great way to save money.
Every thrift store offers half-price specials on a different day of the week. For example, there is a 50 percent off sale virtually every day of the week in my neighborhood. Half-priced items are available on Sundays at Goodwill, Wednesday at The Salvation Army, and Saturday at a privately operated thrift store. This may differ between states and cities.
Also, don’t expect two Goodwill locations to operate on the exact timetable. Only a few people are aware that Goodwill is a franchise. This means that a private business owner can open a Goodwill thrift store. Even though the company name is on the sign, they are free to set their policies about the selling timetable. So you might also travel to the town next door, even if it isn’t their 50 percent off day.
