Toni Braxton: Empowerment Over Lupus
Renowned R&B artist Toni Braxton unveiled her lupus diagnosis in 2008. She has maintained a dialogue with her fans about her health journey.
In an interview with Prevention magazine, Braxton acknowledged her initial fear and despair but emphasized her determination to seize control of her life. She shared, “I was overcome with fear, plunged into depression, and overwhelmed by apprehension. However, I resolved that I would not allow Lupus to define me. Though I have Lupus, I consciously chose not to assume the role of a victim. Presently, I pay heed to the signals my body sends.” Braxton also revealed how Lupus has posed challenges for her performing career.
