3. Yarrow

Yarrow is not only a lovely plant, but it also has a long and illustrious history. The scientific name Achillea millefolium refers to Achilles’ reputed use of the plant to treat his wounds during the Trojan War.

This perennial is a bushy, attractive plant, but be careful when disturbing it because it can cause photodermatitis in some people. Yarrow blooms in various colors, including white, yellow, and even red, and has finely toothed leaves (hence the millefolium or thousand leaves).
