12. Robie’s house
Frederick C. Robie House in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood is located on the University of Chicago Campus. Built-in 1909, the experts chose this property as Wright’s most distinctive Prairie School design. Since 1963, the National Historic Site has recognized it.
As with most of Wright’s Prairie School designs, he has designed all windows, furniture, lighting, textiles, and other furnishings. Roman bricks are used to create sharp horizontal lines on the exterior. The interior of the house is designed as two large rectangles that slide side by side. The Robie house is 9,062 square feet and has three floors.
