24. Bathtub

An important part of Japanese society is swimming. It is a tradition for parents and their children to bathe together. They have natural hot springs, so people come to the communal space for a dip and relax after a long workday. They don’t find it strange to be completely naked next to perfect strangers! (At least they’re the same sex.) Since it’s such an essential part of the culture, every home has a deep soaking bath. Some houses do not shower or give you the option of pouring separate from the tub.
