Pink Beach in Europe Imposes $800 Fines to Prevent Disappearance
Spiaggia Rosa, a picturesque expanse of pink sand, has enjoyed protection by the Italian government since 1992. Despite its alluring beauty, tourists have been barred from visiting the area in order to safeguard its delicate shoreline. There are mounting concerns that the sands are under the imminent threat of erosion and potential Disappearance, leading to the imposition of fines ranging from $800 to $5,500 for unauthorized visitors.
Presently, Pink Beach can be admired solely from the sea through organized boat tours, as stepping foot on the beach is strictly prohibited. Furthermore, only one person is permitted to reside on the island, serving as Spiaggia Rosa’s guardian. However, not all visitors are adhering to these regulations, posing a risk to the preservation of this unique natural wonder.
