Tourists Penalized £2,580 for Illegally Harvesting Sand and Shells on Sardinia Beach
Forty-one tourists have found themselves facing fines of €3,000 euros (£2,580) for their attempt to remove sand and seashells from the pristine beaches of Sardinia. The island’s customs police took action against these individuals who collectively tried to transport a staggering 100 kilograms of beach sand, seashells, and rocks, as reported by local media.
In certain instances, it has come to light that these tourists sought to sell their beach haul online, a practice that has been illegal since 2017 and carries penalties of up to €3,000.
