Sardinia’s Amber Travel Status

Sardinia, which is a part of Italy, is currently classified on the UK’s “amber” travel list, meaning that returning visitors are obliged to undergo a 10-day period of self-isolation upon their return.

In a similar incident from last summer, a couple on vacation in Sardinia faced potential imprisonment for up to six years after they attempted to take sand as a souvenir. This French couple was apprehended with 14 plastic bottles filled with sand, totaling a weight of 40 kilograms, stored in the trunk of their car. They claimed to be unaware that such an action was forbidden. They did not know that their actions constituted an offense when they removed the sand from Chia, located in the southern region of Sardinia.
