Travis Transitions into Adulthood
As Travis matured into a young adult chimpanzee, his tastes and interests evolved alongside him. One evening, while Jerry was enjoying a glass of wine, he noticed Travis’s curiosity about the drink and offered him a taste. This simple gesture sparked a ritual between them, and soon it became customary for Jerry and Travis to share a glass of wine in the evenings. They would clink their stemmed wine glasses, exchange cheers, and savor their nightcap.
With age, Travis’s personality underwent noticeable changes. On a memorable October night in 2003, after sharing dinner and passionately cheering for the Yankees during the World Series (a sport Travis particularly enjoyed watching on TV), Sandy, Jerry, and Travis embarked on a drive to the tow shop. Lightheartedly, they jokingly asked Travis if he wanted to join, knowing he would always be a part of their outings. It had been three years since the loss of Sue, and their bond with Travis remained strong and enduring.
