Sharp Canine Teeth – Japan

While sharp, fang-like teeth may be commonly associated with characters like Dracula or other monsters in Western cultures; they hold a different perception in Japan, where they are considered attractive. These teeth, specifically the canines that separate our incisors from molars, are often visible when people smile and may even protrude slightly.

In Japan, these protruding teeth are called “yaeba,” and are associated with youthfulness. Interestingly, instead of seeking dental procedures to reduce the appearance of sharp canines, some Japanese girls are opting for tooth caps to deliberately enhance the size of their canines, embracing and accentuating this unique feature as a beauty trend. The concept of yaeba exemplifies how beauty standards can vary across cultures, celebrating individual traits that might be considered distinct and alluring in their respective societies.
