A Chinese-American student at the University of Minnesota subsequently filed a lawsuit against Liu, alleging sexual assault, and the two parties ultimately reached a settlement in 2022. This incident followed closely on the heels of another case involving sexual misconduct in which Liu found himself in the spotlight.
